For Mentors
How it works
At TSC, our unique teen-to-teen teaching makes public speaking more relatable for students. Mentors, who are also teens, guide students through a personalized three-session program, providing one-on-one support. No prior public speaking experience is needed to become a mentor — extensive training is provided.

As a child, I was always very intimidated to stand in the front, with all eyes on me, having to get all of my words out while speaking and presenting perfectly.
Over time and through countless presentations, meetings, calls, speeches, and a public speaking course. I have managed to have much more confidence and skill when public speaking. So, when Elle approached me with this opportunity to work with TSC and help kids prepare for their speech occasions and confidence building, I just had to accept. Working with the different students has been such a great experience, mainly because I get to see how much more confident and professional the kids all become when presenting their speeches. Being able to see all of these young teens grow as speakers by helping them relieve the immense pressure and stress of presenting and speaking to an audience through a few sessions is so fulfilling, especially because I had experienced that same daunting feeling. I love being part of the TSC family and I look forward to being on the journey as the program grows!

I would consider myself a pretty outgoing person. I love being around people, having conversations, and talking to others. If you know me, you know that I have a passion…
for performing. I feel comfortable speaking publicly, or just making conversation with others. However, I wasn’t always this way. When I was younger, and especially after COVID hit, I was more shy and reserved. Being around people made me nervous, and I didn’t necessarily enjoy speaking in public. So how did I gain my confidence? Well, from a very young age, I discovered theatre and performing onstage. Musical theatre and acting gave me a way to express myself and perform. Although I have been performing for many years, it wasn’t until recently that I gained confidence in my performance and I could let loose while I was speaking to an audience. I have taken multiple acting and performance classes in and out of school, but the one thing that helped me with my public speaking skills was the TSC program. I came into my first lesson before a big speech of mine with very little public speaking experience. Afterward, the lessons gave me great public speaking skills and techniques that helped me deliver my speech way better than I would have without it. I learned skills like emphasis, Pause, Look, and Breathing, how to manage the pace of my speaking, and even the way to format my speech so it was easier to read. Not only did this help me with my speech, but I think about these skills and techniques daily and apply them to my speaking regularly. I am looking forward to expanding this program and teaching others what TSC taught me.
